Bernard Baumgarten

Choreographer

Born in Luxembourg, Bernard Baumgarten studied dance at the Conservatoire de Musique de la Ville de Luxembourg and various dance centres in France.

Graduated dance teacher. Member of the S.O.A.P. Dance Theatre Frankfurt (D) from 1991 to 1993.He works as an independent choreographer since 1993.

In 1995, he founds the company UnitControl. Choreography, text, language, musical composition, virtual computer work, film, video etc. are so far the basics of his artistic collaboration. UnitControl is a forum for artistic research and mutual acknowledgment. The choreographic research is done through collaboration with the dancers during the creation process as well as in a research "Laboratory".

Since October 2007, he is the artistic director of the Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois TROIS C-L and of the Danz Festival Lëtzebuerg/ Le Transfrontalier.

He was at the origin and the artistic coordinator for the residence project of the Dance Palace under the Luxembourg and Greater Region, European cultural capital of 2007.
