In his novels, the Polish author Stanislav Lem combines science fiction with psychological and philosophical questions. In doing so, he makes use of his genre’s unreal setting for rendering problems more vivid and presenting the well-known in a new costume.
Solaris deals with human perception and recognition, its content and limits. Inspired by Stanislaw Lem’s novel Solaris, we are going to examine questions like: Are perception and recognition congruent? What knowledge can i deduct from perception? Do I understand what somebody else is communicating to me? How do I tell wish from reality? Dream from real perception?
